MARQUIS HILLisan internationally acclaimed trumpeter and composer bornand raised onChicago’s South Side. He emerged from the city’s celebrated jazz community before establishing aninternational career as a bandleader and recording artist. Hill’s music reflects his belief that musicalboundaries are ultimately artificial. Jazz, hip-hop, R&B, Chicago house and neo-soul all inform adistinctive approach defined by lyrical trumpet playing, rhythmic depth and an expansive view ofimprovisation and composition. Hill has collaborated with artists from across the jazz spectrum,including Marcus Miller, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Kurt Elling, Joe Lovano, Nate Smith and Makaya McCraven.
